Millenium bridge, Dublin, 1998

The design proposal is based on the idea of the human spine, with a central single main beam acting as a spine and the shaped cantilevered steel cross beams symbolising ribs. The bridge is roofed with leaf shaped Teflon segments, supported by the over-arching ribs. The floor of the bridge is made of toughened etched glass and lit from below.
